First and foremost, we take great pride in our honesty. WE WILL NOT STEAL YOUR IDEAS. Many websites have a clause in their T.O.S. (terms of service) that states any ideas presented on their website, in any form or function, automatically becomes the sole property of the parent company who owns the site. This is mostly, I assume, to ensure that companies get dibs on those one in a million gems that may get posted on some random forum. This mostly applies to websites that are owned by cable, movie, and television companies. For example, MySpace has this clause; they're owned by NewsCorp (FOX).
This is not meant to scare you. Many great services DO exist to help struggling writers and do not steal your ideas. It's important, however, to educate yourself on which websites are safe to do as such. We PROMISE we will not steal your ideas. At the least, we won't do anything. At the most, we'll ask you if you want us to film it for you, put it under our banner, and offer help in any rewriting that may need to be done. In the matter of rewrites, if we reach in impasse and you say, "I will not change this," then we both walk away, no harm, no foul.
One last note - post at your own risk. We won't steal your ideas, but other people unrelated to our show may see it. And remember, you can't copyright an idea, only the form and structure in which it is presented.
